GymBuddy Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Emin Çimen, the developer of GymBuddy ("we", "us"), for your use of the GymBuddy app for iPhone and Apple Watch and of trygymbuddy.com. By creating an account or using GymBuddy you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

GymBuddy is distributed through the App Store. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) also applies. If it conflicts with these terms, these terms apply as far as the law allows. Apple is not a party to these terms and isn't responsible for GymBuddy or its content.

1. Who can use GymBuddy

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, and at least 18 to use the AI features.
  • Give accurate information when you sign up and keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at support@trygymbuddy.com if you think someone else is using it.
  • One person, one account. Don't create accounts to impersonate someone or to get around a block or removal.

2. Health and safety: not medical advice

GymBuddy offers workout programs, exercise instructions, calorie and protein targets, calorie estimates and AI suggestions for general fitness. None of this is medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or qualified trainer.

  • Calorie, macro and burned-calorie values are estimates and can be wrong.
  • AI answers (meal estimates, programs, reviews and meal ideas) are generated automatically and can be inaccurate or unsuitable for you. Check them before you rely on them.
  • Talk to a doctor before you start a new exercise or nutrition program, especially if you are pregnant, have an injury or have a medical condition. Stop exercising and get help if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath.
  • You train at your own risk. Use correct form, suitable weights and safe equipment.

3. Your content

"Your content" is everything you add to GymBuddy: your profile and profile photo, workouts, programs and their names, custom exercises, meals, snap photos and videos and their captions, and anything else you share.

  • You keep ownership of your content.
  • You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, display and transmit your content only to run GymBuddy for you and for the people you share it with (for example, showing a shared program to your friends). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that friends already received as part of normal use.
  • You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to share it.

4. Community rules

GymBuddy is for training together. You must not post, send or share content, or behave in a way, that:

  • harasses, bullies, threatens, intimidates or shames anyone, including about their body, weight or performance;
  • is sexually explicit, pornographic or nude, or sexualizes anyone; any content involving minors in this way is strictly forbidden and will be reported to the authorities;
  • is hateful or discriminatory, or promotes violence, self-harm, eating disorders or dangerous challenges;
  • promotes illegal drugs, steroids or other prohibited substances;
  • impersonates someone or shares someone's personal information or photos without their permission;
  • is spam, advertising or a scam, or infringes someone's copyright, trademark or privacy.

Snaps disappear after they are viewed, but that doesn't make breaking these rules acceptable: don't record or capture other people without their consent.

We may remove content that breaks these rules and suspend or delete accounts that do. If you see something that breaks them, contact us at support@trygymbuddy.com (or with the report option in the app, where available). We review reports within 24 hours and act on them, including removing content and the user who posted it.

5. AI features

The AI features are optional. They send the data described in our Privacy Policy to Google's Gemini API, only after you allow it in the app. Don't enter other people's personal information in AI notes. You may not use the AI features to generate content that breaks section 4. Daily limits apply and may change.

6. Apple Health and Apple Watch

If you connect Apple Health, GymBuddy reads and writes the data described in the Privacy Policy. You can disconnect at any time. The Apple Watch app needs the iPhone app and a GymBuddy account.

7. Our content and intellectual property

GymBuddy, its name, logo, design, exercise animations, coaching text, programs and badges are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may use them only inside the app for your personal, non-commercial use. Don't copy, modify, sell, reverse engineer or scrape the app or its content, except where the law expressly allows it. Exercise metadata is partly based on the free-exercise-db project (public domain, The Unlicense).

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep GymBuddy running, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". Features may change, be limited (for example AI quotas) or be discontinued. The app may need an internet connection for syncing, social and AI features.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account; this deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or delete your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it or to protect other users. Sections 2, 3 (for content already shared), 7, 10 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, injuries from training, loss of data or decisions you make based on estimates or AI answers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using GymBuddy after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, delete your account.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring claims there. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to solve the problem.
